Acne is a common skin condition which is primarily caused by congestion in the hair follicles (AKA pores).
Our skin has its own protection and moisturising function and this comes from the sebum (oil) produced by our sebaceous glands. When these glands produce too much sebum. our pores can become clogged up with dead skin cells, bacteria (P acnes) and other substances, which block the pore.
When the congested pore, is close to the skin surface you will get comedones AKA spots. Spots are little pockets under the skin surface, where there is a collection of sebum and dead skin. There are different types of spots, e.g; pustules, papules, nodules, cysts and white heads. When a pore is open, this will create a “blackhead”, due to oxidisation. Acne spots or lesions may be either inflammatory or non inflammatory, they can be red and painful and may form cysts.
Acne scars can occur when spots cause damage to the skin, whereby the skin forms scar tissue which remains once healed. They can also be created if you pick or squeeze your spots.
There are 3 particular types of acne scarring, these being:
Endymed ™ 3DEEP® Fractional Re-surfacing – is a great treatment for acne scarring. This FDA approved patented Radio Frequency technology brings on an impressive skin response where gradually the scar tissue minimises and alternatively becomes healthier and brighter without you needing any down time.
Dermapen treatment works especially well on acne scars by creating micro-wounds in the skin which stimulates your body to create more elastin and collagen. This makes you skin create new cells as well as reconstruct itself. DERMAPEN therefore improves the skins texture, quality and comes with the benefit of advancing the healing process, all reducing the appearance of your acne scars.
PRP treatment works on reducing scar appearance as platelets contain considerable distinctive substances which have a effective range of growth factors all of which stimulate new growth of tissue and blood vessels, reducing the size and appearance of your acne scars.
Laser treatment is effective for minimising acne scarring as the laser is used to encourage the production of new collagen which helps encourage a natural skin rejuvenation process, therefore improving and minimising scars caused from acne.
