Myth buster: Carrots and night vision

Many of us have been brought up thinking the carrots only benefit and magic power was helping us to see in the dark.

This is mainly untrue – the provitamin A beta-carotene found in carrots doesn’t actually help people to see in the dark unless they suffer from vitamin A deficiency.  This myth was propaganda used by the Royal Air Force during the Second World War to explain why their pilots had been so success during night air battles, but was actually made up to disguise advances in technology.

Fact: Carrots are a Superfood

Don’t fret – the carrot is still as magical and as beneficial as you were told!

Carrots are a superfood, rich in vitamins (particularly Vitamin A), minerals, and fiber and are a good source of antioxidants in the form of beta carotene (found in orange carrots).
